Girls get away ST. George and Las Vegas

This past weekend we took a mini vacation to St.George and Vegas. We had such a GREAT time doing a whole lotta nothing and everything! We have been planning it for awhile but it ended up being just the three of us, the rest of the clan could not make this trip. Haley, Kim and I did a lot of laying by the pool, shopping, eating, movies, and just relaxing. We went to Vegas on Saturday and met up with Rory and had such a fun day. We shopped hit Cheesecake of course, played at the pool at Mandalay Bay, shopped some more and stopped by Serendipity for frozen hot chocolate and lots of food then topped the night off by watching the water show at the Balagio. That is still probably one of my favorite shows in Vegas. I LOVE IT!!

Haley was so EXCITED to see that they got a Serendipity there. She has been to the one in New York and LOVED it. She loved it even more when she saw they had peanut butter frozen hot chocolate!

Can not wait to get back. Especially cause the weather was so nice there and it did nothing but rain here and still is! Thanks girls for such a great weekend. Counting down to the next one and for the rest of my girls to go!!

ZOO DAY

My sis Haley told Colt she would take him too the Zoo for his bday so we decided to all tag along with! It was a great day for the Zoo not too hot or cold. And what more can I say about the zoo...hmm.....

Gage Babtism

Gage got baptized on Saturday May 2. He has been so excited to do this. I wish I could say the day was peaceful and full of the spirit but it was not. It was chaotic! For starters they had another family the same day which is normal. I just wish it could have been a little more low key and personal. The whole time Clint's grandma was giving her talk all I could here was a lady TALKING. Then we get there and they forgot to fill the water so we got to wait another 45 minutes. I could keep going on but ill stop there. I do not mean to sound BA humbug. The baptism and confirmation were great and Clints grandma gave the cutest talk. It was all the in between that took away from this day. I guess all that matters is that the day was GREAT for Gage in his eyes.

Gage truly is such a great kid and everytime I look at him I think how LUCKY and BLESSED we all are to have this guy in our lives. He is so full of LOVE and is SO thoughtful. He knows just how to push my buttons and pull at my heart strings all at the same time. Watching him grow has been an adventure and I can not wait to see who he becomes! Ok I lied, I can wait!!

I will say some of the highlights for me this day was watching Tutu dance at the piano and banging on the keys while the lady was trying to play. Then climbing on top of the kids trying to get inside the baptismal font so she could "splash"


Then when Clint's grandma LaRue was giving her talk she held up the Book of Mormon and Bridger yelled out "Hey Grandma, hey Grandma, I have that book" as loud as he could!

SpRiNg BrEaK!!! 2009

We all had such a great spring break! Clint had to work so I took the kids down to St. George for a couple of days. Nothing like deciding the night before and throwing kids in the car and going. The weather kind of sucked but I guess compared to the snow we were getting at home I could not complain. Lots of swimming, movies and relaxing!

Then I went to San Francisco with Clint for the weekend. He had to work so I thought I would tag along so I could play. The kids stayed with Grandmas and Papas and my Sis. So they had a GREAT spring break playing!

It was a much needed mini vacation. Especially cause Clint is gearing up to be gone for quite a long stretch. Its always good to get away one on one and remind yourselves why ya LOVE one another!! Steve and Haze Kelshaw were there too so while the boys worked I had my own personal tour guide. We hit the piers, rode the trolleys, watched the Giants play ball, shopped ate DELICIOUS food and just had such a GREAT time!

I have hardly any pics of St. George, but I bet the kids were relieved!


I wish I had a yard full of these trees. They smelled so good and they were so cute!

We watched the Giants play the Diamondbacks. It was so much fun. Even though every time you would breathe you really felt like you took a huge bite of garlic! YUM!

If you go there you definitely have to hit Scomas to eat. Its right on the Ocean and is so GOOD!




Clint and I took the fairy over to Sausalito for the afternoon. We had such a great time other than Clint was on the phone for three hours trying to clear up stuff for work. We had lunch at a place that sits right on the Ocean and the weather could not have been better.

While we were waiting for the fairy I looked down and there was HUGE jelly fish in the water!

And apparently I like to pose for the camera in a goofy way! Cause there are lots of pics with goofy faces! Ahhhhh it was so relaxing and I enjoyed every second of it. I missed the kiddos but what a great Spring Break for everyone!!

The only thing that I did not do was go to Alcatraz. I guess its a good excuse for me to go back cause I really wanted to see it. Hint, Hint, honey!!

Koda and the dentist and then some...

Koda had a rough one at the dentist today to say the least. I was really surprised because he usually does really well. I guess it would be a mix of having to drug him up and the laughing gas. He was so scared at first then he just cried and cried. After a while he was good and got really loopy in the chair asking when he was going to get his shot which he already had. He said to the dentist "Wait a minute, your telling me I already had it". And then repeatedly telling me hi and giggling. Then I thought to myself, I should have what he is having!

I just have to write down some of the stuff he has said lately because to me it was pretty funny.

Koda:Mom where is dad?
Me: He had to go to Indianapolis.
Koda: Is it cold there?
Me:Yes
Koda: Indianapos has lots of Indians huh!
(I know I spelled this wrong he was having a hard time saying this word and this is what it sounded like..sort of)

We were getting ready to go to the store and he had his own money he wanted to bring. At the last minute he looked at me and said:
"Mom I won't bring my money this time I am going to let you spend your money today".
He said it all nice like he was doing me a favor.

Koda found a penny on the ground and hollers" YES I am the luckiest person and this is going to be a lucky day!!"

I need to be better at writing down all the nonsense stuff they say. I know it is silly but I love to remember stuff like this. He is getting so grown up and it is bitter sweet to me. I am realizing he is no longer a baby and its a pill that is kind of hard to swallow. I have so much fun watching them grow, I guess they just grow to dang fast!

A letter for you...

You have to Love the letters you get from your kids. I try to save a lot of there stuff and I have a lot to get scanned into my computer. I know when they get older they will love to see all the letters, stories, pictures and just the random items they did when they were little.







I was cleaning out back packs getting ready for tomorrow and found these in Gage's backpack. Too funny. I especially love the one about the president. I have no doubt he would help people and save wise men. It also reminded me about Colt's letter to the president awhile ago...Got to love them...

My friend wants to know if you will skate with him...

We all remember that line right?!? We went skating the other night and the kids had a blast. Koda and Meg were excited to skate with each other on the couples skate. Lance was a trooper and put on skates. Clint was scared he would eat it and opted out. Way to take one for the team honey. Next time I won't let you out of it!!

I used to live to go skating in Elementary and the place has not changed much. My skating skills sure have though! I will say that it was a quite the workout. Trying to keep Koda up on skates and me not eating it at the same time was a challenge. Lots of FUN!!

SAY WHAT???

Dakoda came home from school and was unusually quiet for awhile. I asked him if everything was OK and he says yeah. Awhile later Dakoda comes to me with HUGE crocodile tears. I asked him what was the matter and he responds with...

"Mom am I going to die"?
I tell him no you are not going to die and I know I am looking at him with that what the heck kind of question is that!! Then he asks "am I ever going to die"? I tell him when we are really really really old we will all die. He then says "so are my papa's going to die"? So I had to sit and explain the whole process to my four year old. At this point he is now dripping tears. Some one had told him about death at preschool! I was prepared for the "Is Santa real" kind of questions but not for this! I could not believe I was having this conversation with him. I know he has kind of grown up faster having two older brothers, but skipping the Santa question and heading straight for the big one?? Hopefully this topic is done and I made him feel better!

I can not believe how times have changed. I do not think I found out about Santa til I was in like sixth grade. And already we are discussing these kind of things with our little ones. Which brings me to my next concern. My kids have got some pretty good friends from school but when it comes time to call it a night when is enough, enough?? I always (in elementary school) had to be home by 5 or 6 for dinner time or homework. Or just to be in on a school night. I know sometimes there will be things that come up and I'm all for that.  I have to ask these little ones at like 6, 7, and 8 what time they need to be home. They respond "whenever". So then I look like the evil mother for telling them its time to go. If its not that they start calling between 6 and 8 to play?? What the crap, am I seriously that old fashioned? Don't get me wrong I love having all there friends here I am just trying to find a balance somewhere...

I am so lucky that mine and Clint's parents have instilled the values that they did in us. I am sure at times I thought that they were so unfair just as my kids probably think that from time to time. But man being a parent can be hard at times. The most rewarding thing I have ever done but the most challenging also. I find myself doing the same things my parents did in situations. Probably the situations at the time I said "I will never be like that". Or " I will never do that to my kids". I now understand why my parents sit back and laugh at certain situations. They have been there done that. Now that mine are getting older you want to protect them as much as you can and wish you could send them out into the world with ear muffs and a tracking device!
I hope that they will be positive influences on those that are around them. Learn from there mistakes and have a good attitude toward life when it gets tough! To keep their heads up and have a good heart! And I hope mine are never the ones going around giving some other kid the spill on life that will scar them for a brief moment!

Tricks and Treats...

Yes I know this may be the dumbest post ever! But since I forgot my camera for the second year in a row on Halloween this is what you get. I have no cute pics of my kids but I do of my backyard! We have been in turbo mode trying to get the backyard done. I finally called someone to come do all the dirty work and clean up so that our backyard would be ready for sprinklers and grass (your welcome Clint)! So on Halloween we had over 6000 square feet of sod to lay. It all turned out so good so I guess that was my BIG treat for Halloween. Thanks so much to Clint's dad for all is help! We love you so much and do not know what we would do with out you! And a BIG thank you to Jake, Gabe and Dan for all your help! The best part is hopefully NO more mud and dirt all over the floor.






Yes we did make it out to Trick-or-Treat but we were a little behind schedule. We did not get to hit some of our favorite places but we were all so tired. The kids still had fun and we made out with plenty of dentist visiting candy!

It was so rainy on Sunday and the kids were so bored so we decided to turn out all the lights and shut all the blinds and play hide and go seek with the kids. We gave them head lamps and made them count in the laundry room while Clint and I hid. I honestly have not laughed that hard in a long time. All we could here was "you go first", "no you go first". They made it one round and then were to scared to go again. It reminded me of when my sister and I used to play and my dad would always hide her in the best spots and I would end up in tears cause I could not find her. So I guess this was our tricks for the weekend.



And as I am typing up this post I am thinking about what I heard on the radio last week. On my way home from running one morning a radio show was talking about blogs. They said they can understand the blogs that talk about "important" stuff like mountain biking and such, but these blogs that talk about what little Suzy did this day and what little Tommy wrote all over the walls are pointless. I was laughing all the way home cause I think that is what all my posts are about. My kids are honestly the reason I started this blog. I wish I had it from the moment that Colt was born I think I would have recorded a lot more stuff. So that is it, this is my "non important" blog post of the day. ha ha

HSM 3 and then some...

So we hit the ever awaited HSM3 this weekend. Gage LOVED it. Him and Dakoda have been counting down to go see it. I can say it was actually pretty good and I was impressed with the choreography. Now they are on the count down to go see it again. Gage has even decided to be Troy Bolton for Halloween.

We also hit the Trick or Treat street up at south town. They had lots of fun. Clint's work help to set it up. They made it look like a little town and you went door to door trick or treating. Good times!!
